Frontier Coal Ltda. was founded in 2003 with the purpose of trading steam coal from the Cucuta, Norte de Santander region of Colombia through the port of La Ceiba and Palmarejo in Venezuela. Frontier and its affiliated companies have been producing coal from underground mines and trading coal from other small producers. Frontierīs most important contribution to the region has been the technological improvements and financing provided to numerous small miners. In addition, Frontier provides crushing the coal to meet customer specifications and the possibility of screening out the fines for destinations with sized requirements. As part of the corporate strategy and social responsibility, Frontier has contributed to the region improving roads and bridges, providing education in safety regulations to prevent accidents, promoting sports integration through soccer playing in organized teams and participating in numerous community activities that allow the integration of the rural population with the coal miners. At La Ceiba, Frontier shares the port with other coal producers and importers of Venezuelan agricultural goods. The port serves a multiple purpose in an environmentally healthy area. There are paved roads in perfect condition on all main roads in Colombia and Venezuela. There are many cultural similarities throughout the region that enable coal production in a safe and sound environment. The infrastructure includes good electricity, water supply and all public services including the presence of internationally recognized laboratories that guarantee fair results for both parties. |
